US-based government technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton plans to expand its national security portfolio by acquiring EverWatch, which provides “classified software development and analytics capabilities” to US defence and intelligence agencies, Booz Allen announced on 16 March.
Booz Allen will purchase EverWatch from US private equity firm Enlightenment Capital, which created the software company a few years ago by merging several businesses. Based in Reston, Virginia, EverWatch will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Booz Allen and will work closely with the buyer's national security sector.
Booz Allen expects to complete the acquisition in the first quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2023, which runs from April to June 2022. It did not disclose financial terms of the deal or the size of EverWatch.
Booz Allen's other recent acquisitions have focused on the civil sector, although those transactions have added capabilities that are relevant to defence as well, a company spokesperson said. “EverWatch is the only recent deal squarely in the intel/defence arena,” the spokesperson told Janes .
The EverWatch transaction is not the first involving both Booz Allen and Enlightenment. System High, which is majority-owned by Enlightenment, announced in January 2021 that it had acquired Booz Allen's Technical, Engineering, Advisory, and Management Support (TEAMS) business, which helps the US Missile Defense Agency safeguard assets and information.
