Teledyne FLIR and its partner, Precision Technic Defence Group (PTD), have signed a seven-year framework agreement with the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) for the supply of an undisclosed number of medium-and long-range surveillance systems.

Teledyne FLIR will deliver its SeaFLIR/TacFLIR 280-HDEP and SeaFLIR/TacFLIR 380 HLD-X advanced day/night, all-weather imaging systems.

Company spokesperson Joe Ailinger told Janes that Denmark-based PTD is acting as the prime contractor for the effort and will also supply all ancillary equipment such as masts, displays, power solutions, and perform integration work.

According to an earlier DALO notice for the procurement of medium- and long-range mobile sensor systems, the equipment is intended to be used for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance missions. Specific applications include in support of tactical air control parties, artillery observers, and forward air controllers.

The sensors will equip a range of platforms across the Danish military, but primarily land vehicles and naval vessels. Those outlined in the DALO notice include the Polaris MRZR, Supacat Intruder, Mowag Piranha 5, Naval Special Warfare Rigid Inflatable Boat, Iver Huitfeldt-class frigate, Absalon-class frigate, Thetis-class inspection ship, Knud Rasmussen-class inspection vessel, and Diana-class patrol vessel.

The DALO notice stated that the medium-range sensors will be operated on land platforms in three ways: mounted onto and operated within the vehicle, fitted on a tripod close to but operated in the vehicle, or fully detached and operated away from the vehicle. It is intended that the long-range sensors will be fixed installations on the land and naval platforms.
