Netherlands Industries for Defence and Security (NIDV) and Embraer have agreed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) geared at co-operation between the respective national defence sectors in general, and specifically related to the Brazilian-built C-390 Millennium transport aircraft and A-29 Super Tucano light attack and trainer aircraft.
Signed on 30 November, the MOU followed the Netherlands' recent selection of the C-390 airlifter to meet its future fixed-wing transport requirements, and reported interest in the A-29 as a cost-effective trainer platform.
“The MOU between Embraer and NIDV adds to Embraer's existing partnerships and strategic relationships in the Netherlands while structuring a joint framework aimed at exploring additional opportunities aligned with the priorities of the Netherlands' Defense Industry Strategy,” Embraer said.
Highlights of the MOU include services and the development of new capabilities within Embraer's existing projects, further contributing to the development and application of military knowledge, technologies, and industrial capabilities in the Netherlands. “Contributions from the Dutch ecosystem to the supply chain of the Embraer C-390 programme for export markets will remain a central goal,” the Brazilian manufacturer said.
