Slovak company EVPÚ has given details of the new Turra 30-SA turret that it displayed at the IDEB 2024 exhibition held in Bratislava from 14 to 16 May.
Patrik Hlůšek, EVPÚ's head of sales – defence industry, told Janes on 22 May that the turret is equipped with an Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) Elta Systems Othello optical threat locator.
It also includes a radar and a ThunderBullet ELO-5220P optical and acoustic gunfire detection system. The turret's 30 mm automatic cannon can fire programmable airburst munition, giving it anti-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capabilities, Hlůšek said.
Turra 30-SA is a remotely operated turret developed in co-operation with IAI Elta Systems. It is designed to be integrated into tracked and light wheeled armoured combat vehicles.
In addition to a 30 mm automatic cannon, Turra 30-SA has an anti-tank guided missile launcher mounted on the left side of the turret inside a box casing with a moveable front cover, a 7.62 mm machine gun, and two banks of grenade launchers located on each side of the turret.
The turret also features a NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 3 ballistic protection and according to EVPÚ can be equipped with an active protection system.
Hlůšek said there are several European, Indo-Pacific, and other potential customers interested in this type of Turra 30 solution but declined to name them.
