The AX MKIII is the latest development of the AXMC multicalibre rifle. New features include a bolt and lock ring, a redesigned adjustable stock, an ambidextrous safety catch, and a new AR-style pistol grip that can be changed by the user as required. The rifle retains the Quickloc barrel system, integral Arca-Swiss style tripod mounting rail on the underside of the forend, and the keymod handguard of the AXMC.

The rifle is supplied chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum but can be converted to different calibres. The conversion requires changing only the barrel and bolt body using kits provided by AI. The 10-round double-stack magazines also need to be changed, but magazines for different calibres do not require an adaptor.
The AX 50 ELR provides longer range and destructive power by using higher calibres but also features a multicalibre system. The rifle is chambered in .50 cal BMG but can be converted to .408 CheyTac and .375 CheyTac. The AX 50 ELR also features a 10-round magazine capacity, as well as the other Quickloc barrel, Arca-Swiss tripod mount, and barricade support features of the AX MKIII.
