The Israeli Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced on 7 November that it signed an agreement the day before covering 25 advanced F-15 multirole fighters with an option for another 25.

It said the USD5.2 billion agreement was part of a wider package of US aid approved by Congress earlier in 2024 and finalised after negotiations between its mission in the United States and Boeing, the aircraft's manufacturer. It added that four to six aircraft will be delivered annually from 2031.

“The new F-15IA will be equipped with cutting-edge weapon systems, including state-of-the-art Israeli technologies,” the MoD said. “The upgraded aircraft will feature enhanced range capabilities, increased payload capacity, and improved performance across various operational scenarios.”

The MoD quoted its director general, Major General Eyal Zamir (res), as saying, “This F-15 squadron, alongside the third F-35 squadron procured earlier this year, represents a historic enhancement of our air power and strategic reach, capabilities that proved crucial during the current war.”

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced in August that the US government had approved the sale of 50 F-15IAs to Israel. Estimated to be worth USD18.8 billion, the package also covered upgrades for Israel's 25 existing F-15Is to a new standard called the F-15I+, which includes the same AN/APG-82 radar as the F-15IA but not the new F110-GE-129 engines.
