NHIndustries (NHI) is in talks to sell up to 100 of its NH90 rotorcraft to mainly new customers, consortium president Axel Aloccio said on 8 October.
Speaking to Janes and other defence media at the Marignane site of chief stakeholder Airbus Helicopters, Aloccio said that strong international interest is being received in the NH90 in general, and in the anti-submarine warfare (ASW)-configured NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH) variant in particular.
“We have quite an important number of prospects today that have expressed interest in the NH90, and in particular in the NFH ASW configuration,” Aloccio said. “A lot of them are coming from the Middle East, but also from other regions of the world. I hope these will materialise in the next 18 months with new customers joining the programme.”
New sales
When asked to put a number on these prospective sales, Aloccio noted, “I would say anywhere between 50 to 100 new NH90s”, though he caveated that number by saying it included an anticipated potential sale of additional NFH helicopters to existing NH90 customer Spain.
