Texelis of France has resumed general series production at its Limoges facility after a temporary halt was put into place on 16 March because of Covid-19, according to a 21 April company press release. The company has maintained emergency production throughout this period in order to support the French Army during Operations ‘Resilience’ and ‘Barkhane’ in France and the Sahel respectively, the release adds.

The release states that serial production was re-started on 6 April, and that the company has now added a second shift at its Limoges facility, this means that the company has been able to maintain the programme schedule for production of the French Army’s Serval armoured vehicle, as well as a supply of vital components to the French Army.
Furthermore, the Covid-19 outbreak has not affected the 2021 full rate production target of the company’s T750/700 production line, which was opened in February this year. The production line will be capable of producing at least 2,000 axle units per year, the release states, including the T750 powerpack, suspension, steering, cooling, exhaust, and electrical systems for the Serval programme.
The release adds that priority production for other customers, including new axles for Arquus and Alstom has continued, as have other deliveries for key export customers. Jean Vandel, Managing Director at Texelis Defence, said “We are working to continue production to support them [the company’s key customers] in line with government guidelines, while prioritising the safety of all Texelis staff and customers.”
