US industrial conglomerate Curtiss-Wright has agreed to acquire military communications equipment supplier Pacific Star Communications (PacStar) for USD400 million in cash, Curtiss-Wright announced on 24 September.
PacStar unveiled its Secure Wireless Command Post, a deployable WiFi system, in 2017. (PacStar)
Curtiss-Wright said the acquisition will expand its reach in the well-funded area of battlefield communications. PacStar’s products include rugged, mobile communications systems, and IQ-Core Software for communications network management.
PacStar has supported such military efforts as the US Army’s Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) and Transportable Tactical Command Communications (T2C2) programmes, and the US Marine Corps’ Networking-on-the-Move (NOTM) programme.
When the acquisition closes, PacStar, which is privately owned, will operate within Curtiss-Wright’s defence segment. Curtiss-Wright expects to complete the transaction in the fourth quarter of 2020.
