UAE-based Milanion announced on 9 August that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ukrainian Armor to distribute the company's Agema unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) in Ukraine.
Milanion's 8×8 Agema UGV has a range of roles that include ISR support, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launch and recovery, and route clearance. The Agema has a triple-differential steering transmission and a fully hydraulic braking system with independent steering. Power is provided by a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard Marine 40 hp EFI engine, and the vehicle is fully amphibious. Additional tracks can be fitted around its wheels for extra mobility.
During the IDEX 2021 trade show held in February in Abu Dhabi the vehicle was exhibited in five configurations, including two with remotely operated weapon stations (ROWS) made by the Australian company EOS Defense Systems. One was fitted with the ultra-light R150 ROWS that can be fitted with weapons up to 12.7 mm machine guns, while the other had the heavier R400S Mk2 ROWS, which is designed for 30 mm guns. Other configurations included one that could carry the MSP Warble FLY loitering munition, another equipped with a LIG Nex1 LOGIR 70 mm missile, and a fifth in a logistical support capability.
It was revealed during the show that the Emirati military intended to acquire the Agema, however further details of a contract were not disclosed.
The Emirati company was acquired by US-based MedSmart Group Inc on 27 July as part of the company's broader strategy to move into the unmanned market. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Milanion has a manufacturing base in the Tawazun Industrial Park in Abu Dhabi.
