The Ministry of the Armed Forces announced the EUR200 million (USD237 million) order in late August, noting that it was part of a wider government package to support the nation’s aerospace industry.
“The advance order for these three A330 aircraft is a concrete and immediate measure of the support of the Ministry of the Armed Forces for the aeronautical industrial sector. The total amount of orders that will be placed by the DGA [procurement agency] as part of the support of the Ministry of the Armed Forces to the aeronautics industry (advance orders for aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aircraft) will amount to 600 million euros,” the ministry said.
Delivery of the first two additional MRTTs will take place before the end of this year, with the third following in 2022.
