Nimr said the vehicle has been designed to undertake a wide range of specialist military roles while providing a high level of survivability, mobility, and firepower.
A key feature of the Ajban 447A is that it has a scalable level of ballistic, mine blast, and improvised explosive device (IED) protection, with bullet/splinter-proof windows providing enhanced situational awareness.
The vehicle can carry two crew and five passengers, all in blast-attenuating seats. The two doors on both sides enable personnel to rapidly enter and leave the vehicle.
An independent suspension system is fitted to provide a high level of cross-country mobility and a central tyre inflation system enables the driver to adjust the tyre pressure to suit the terrain being crossed.
The Ajban 447A can be fitted with a wide range of weapon systems to meet operational requirements. The vehicle was displayed at IDEX fitted with the Platt MR550 shielded ring mount armed with a Dillon Aero 7.62 mm M134D Minigun and the Lacroix Automated Obscurance System (AOS), which includes sensors and banks of grenade launchers.
“We are delighted to unveil the new edition to the ever-growing family of Nimr vehicles,” said Ali al-Mansoori, the company’s general manager. “Building on Nimr’s reputation of outstanding manoeuvrability, the Ajban 447A excels across all terrains and diverse operational environment supporting a wide range of mission requirements.
“This 4×4 complements our existing range, allowing Nimr to expand beyond our current four-crew light-to-medium weight vehicle configuration into increased capacity with multirole capability.”
