Kratos makes two small acquisitions

US-based Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has bolstered its military technology capabilities by acquiring CTT Inc and Cosmic Advanced Engineered Solutions (Cosmic AES) for a total of about USD60 million, the buyer announced on 22 February.

Headquartered in San Jose, California, CTT makes power amplifiers, frequency converters, transmitters, and other electronic devices used in jammers, missiles, radars, unmanned aircraft, and other military systems.

Cosmic AES, which is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, develops systems that geolocate signals of interest or satellite communications interference. It also supports signals interception and analysis. The majority of its work is classified, said Kratos president and CEO Eric DeMarco.

CTT and Cosmic AES will add about USD45 million to Kratos' annual revenue, according to Kratos chief financial officer Deanna Lund.

Kratos had been quiet on the acquisition front since buying several companies in 2020, including ASC Signal, which makes ground station antennas for satellite communications and satellite control; Technical Directions Inc (TDI), which makes small engines for cruise missiles and unmanned aircraft; and 5-D Systems, which performs software and systems engineering for unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft.
