Raytheon Technologies Corporation plans to move its corporate headquarters from Waltham, Massachusetts, to the Washington, DC, area, placing it closer to its US military customers, the defence contractor announced on 7 June.

The new headquarters will be located in an existing Raytheon building in the Rosslyn neighbourhood of Arlington, Virginia. Raytheon expects to complete the relocation in the third quarter of 2022, and it intends to maintain a corporate office at its Waltham site, a company spokesman said.

The news came a little over a month after Boeing announced it was moving its corporate headquarters from Chicago, Illinois, to its Arlington campus, and about a year after AeroVironment shifted its home base from Simi Valley, California, to Arlington.

Many other defence contractors, including General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and the US subsidiary of UK-based BAE Systems, are headquartered in the DC area. However, L3Harris Technologies plans to remain in Florida, a company spokesman said.
