The Brazilian Marine Corps (CFN) is looking to acquire an additional 48 Oshkosh Defense Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme to further increase its mobility, firepower and protection.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Marine Infantry Battalions would each receive 12 of the 4×4 vehicles, while the remaining 12 would go to the Special Operations Battalion, the CFN told Janes.
An initial 12 JLTV A1 Heavy Gun Carriers (HGCs), along with a two-year logistics support package, were acquired by the Brazilian Naval Commission in Washington through a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) signed with the US Army on 5 October 2020 in a deal worth USD15.19 million. Four of these HGCs will be received in 2022, two in 2023, two in 2024, two in 2025 and two in 2026 for the Marine Armoured Battalion.
