Supacat unveiled the ACC HMT at DVD 2024. (Supacat)
Supacat unveiled the Armoured Closed Cab (ACC) High Mobility Transporter (HMT) on the first day of the Defence Vehicle Demonstration (DVD) 2024 exhibition held in Millbrook, United Kingdom, on 18 and 19 September.
The ACC is designed to provide blast and ballistic protection to its crew in a vehicle that shares the same subsystem commonality as other HMT versions. Crewed by a commander, a driver, and two mission system operators, the ACC HMT has a generic vehicle architecture (GVA), allowing the integration of complex mission systems into its chassis, with a 2×4 m load area that can carry a payload of over 3,500 kg.
Phil Applegarth, director and head of Supacat, told Janes that the ACC's scaleable GVA allows mission system operators to operate under armour. The cab's windscreen and front windows are armoured and all four of its seats are protected, while the rear passengers have new screens from UK company Armor Vision to reduce weight and increase protection. Applegarth added that the ACC features roll-over protection structures.
The ACC HMT has space for integral cables for communications, electronic warfare (EW), and electronic countermeasures and the cab has a roof hatch for pintle-mounted weapon systems including remote weapon systems. There is also the option to fit chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) filtration.
Applegarth said the ACC HMT's modularity allows it to be offered as a short-range air-defence platform, counter-unmanned aircraft system, laser platform, battlegroup organic anti-armour system armed with Brimstone, Serpens radar vehicle, command-and-control vehicle, protected battlefield ambulance, lightweight recovery vehicle, and troop carrier vehicle, among other applications.
