Patria announced in a press release on 26 March that it was investing EUR40 million (over USD43 million) to expand armoured vehicle production in its Hämeenlinna plant.

Aimed at nearly doubling vehicle production in the next two years, the project includes a new manufacturing facility, a surface treatment area, and development of existing facilities. Patria reported that preparations to start construction work have already begun, with the new facilities expected to be fully operational during 2027.

Mikko Leino, Patria's executive vice-president of Operations, said, “Patria's order stock has grown significantly, and strong demand is particularly based on Patria's armoured vehicle projects. With the expansion of the Hämeenlinna production facility, we want to speed up the delivery of current orders, but also prepare for new orders and production of new products, including weapon systems and tracked vehicle manufacturing. The investment is also an important part of strengthening the EU's [European Union's] Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB).”

A Patria spokesperson told Janes on 28 March that the Hämeenlinna facility produces both Patria 6×6 and 8×8 Patria Armoured Modular Vehicle (AMV) XP armoured vehicles, as well as Patria NEMO mortar systems.

Patria has already received orders for more than 800 Patria 6×6 vehicles and has delivered over 200 of them under the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme led by Finland and including Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. The company also reports other European countries' interest in the programme.
