French President Emmanuel Macron announced another EUR2 billion (nearly USD2.2 billion) in military aid to Ukraine during a press conference in Paris with visiting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He said the aid included Milan anti-tank missiles; MICA air-to-to missiles to arm the Mirage combat aircraft France has delivered to Ukraine; Mistral surface-to-air missiles, VĂ©hicule de l'Avant BlindĂ© (VAB) armoured vehicles; AMX-10RC armoured reconnaissance vehicles; ânumerous munitions, some loiteringâ; and unmanned aerial vehicles. He also reported progress on satellite and intelligence support to Ukraine.
Macron added that the support would be complemented by the production of equipment in Ukraine through partnerships with French defence companies.
France has delivered tens of thousands of rounds of 155 mm ammunition for CAESAR and TRF 1 self-propelled howitzers (SPHs) donated to Ukraine.
KNDS France announced in March 2024 that its company Nexter, together with Nammo and Valsts Aizsardzibas Korporacija (VAK) of Lithuania, has received the European Union's Act in Support of Ammunition Production (ASAP) funding to increase production of artillery shells for Ukraine.
France has trained thousands of Ukrainian soldiers, including 2,300 members of the Anne of Kyiv Brigade, which it has also equipped with 128 VABs, 18 CAESAR SPHs, 18 AMX-10RCs, 10 TRM trucks, and 20 Milan firing posts.
