Kongsberg Maritime has been contracted to supply shaft lines, controllable pitch propellers, and associated control systems to the first HDF-3200 design frigate to be built for the Peruvian Navy by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) and local shipyard Servicios Industriales de la Marina (SIMA), it was announced at the Euronaval 2024 exhibition held in Paris.

HD HHI was selected in March 2024 as SIMA's partner to build an initial batch of four naval vessels, including one HDF-3200 frigate, one 2,200 tonne offshore patrol vessel (OPV), and two 1,500 tonne landing craft utility (LCUs).

The new 3,400 tonne, 127 m frigate is designed for long-range patrol with a range of 6,000 n miles and can achieve a top speed of 26.5 kt.

The first frigate, to be delivered in 2029, may be followed by a further batch of ships. The total requirement has previously been noted as up to six multi-purpose frigates to replace the Peruvian Navy's Lupo-class frigates.
