Finland issues tender for multi-mission ROVs

The Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) Logistics Command is seeking proposals for up to four new underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).

The ROVs will be used for multiple underwater missions, including infrastructure inspection and search-and-rescue operations.

The department plans to procure one ROV this year, as well as one each year from 2023 to 2025. The delivery of three final ROVs is planned as optional procurement and would be subject to renewal of the contract. The tender also highlights that the department would have to utilise the option before 30 November of each optional year.

According to the tender notice, the ROV should be easily operated by one person, feature a modular construction to integrate optional accessories, and should be able to be operated from smaller vessels. In addition, it must be equipped with hot-swappable battery modules for extended mission times.

The value of the contract is estimated at EUR520,000 (USD575,000) and the last date for the bidders to submit their response is 29 April.
