Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) has unveiled a new 51 m offshore patrol vessel (OPV) concept that can be configured to carry a variety of modular mission sets.
The concept is known as the 510 OPV, and it has been designed in collaboration with Turkish shipbuilder Ares Shipyard.
The 510 OPV design incorporates a modular deck that can accommodate various mission systems.
Depending on its mission configuration, equipment that can be accommodated on this deck include a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB), 11 m interceptor boats, jet skis, and a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), according to information provided by the company.
A model of the vessel on display at the Indo Defence 2022 exhibition in Jakarta, held from 2 to 5 November, indicates that these equipment can be launched and recovered via davits or an onboard crane system.
The model also indicates that the 510 OPV can be armed with a stabilised remote controlled weapon station (RCWS) in the primary position, and a close-in weapon system (CIWS) at the aft of its wheelhouse.
Furthermore, the 510 OPV has been designed with a bridge that features a 270° point of view, which will ostensibly provide its crew with better situational awareness.
The vessel is topped with a composite mast that can be incorporated with a surveillance radar, navigation sensors, satellite communications (satcom) dome, electronic warfare sensors, and fire-control equipment.
