The Serdar remote weapon station (RWS) developed jointly by Turkey’s Aselsan and Ukraine’s Luch Design Bureau has passed its final trials and is now ready to enter serial production under an existing contract for a foreign country, the Ukrainian state defence export company SpetsTechnoExport announced on 5 June.

“The qualifying trials related specifically to the Skif missile launching system and showed that it has been integrated according to the customer’s requests”, SpetsTechnoExport press secretary Vadym Shkliar told Jane’s .
The only known customer for the Serdar was revealed in December 2018, when the RWS was seen installed on more than a dozen Turkish-made Ejder Yalçin armoured vehicles during Qatar’s annual military parade.
SpetsTechnoExport stated that the system’s developers expect that the Ukrainian and Turkish defence ministries will also be interested in the Sedar.
The RWS is armed with 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm machine guns, as well as two Skif laser-guided missile launchers.
SpetsTechnoExport and the Luch Design Bureau provided the Skif missile system and performed the integration with the RWS. The RK-2S missile fired by the Skif is capable of penetrating 800 mm of rolled homogeneous armour protected by explosive-reactive armour at a range of 5 km, according to Luch. Other types of Skif missiles are also advertised.
