Greek firm Theon Sensors announced the opening of a new subsidiary in Kempen, Germany, on 6 March.
The establishment of Theon Deutschland GmbH is reportedly the result of contract successes with the German Special Forces Command (KSK) and the German Army, and strong performance in neighbouring countries.
Theon’s Business Development Director Philippe Mennicken told Jane’s that the subsidiary was “created … to be closer to the customer, to be able to support them, and, obviously, to grow the business”.

Theon Deutschland GmbH is part of a phased approach to enhance Theon Sensors’ footprint in the European market. The first stage is a sales office that will establish presence close to customers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Benelux region. This will be followed by the establishment of maintenance capabilities by collaborating with JK Defense, Theon Sensors’ business partner in Germany.
JK Defense’s capabilities in electro-optics will be expanded to support and maintain Theon Sensors’ products in Germany and the wider region. Depending on the level of business growth, Theon Sensors may undertake local production and assembly in Germany, in co-operation with JK Defense or other partners.
Theon Sensors has secured contracts from military and law enforcement customers in more than 40 countries and now has subsidiaries in Germany, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore, and co-production facilities in the Middle East and the Far East.
