Ukraine will receive new counter unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to enhance the capabilities of its armed forces.
According to a Kongsberg announcement on 14 August, the company will deliver several Cortex Typhon systems for GBP56 million (USD71 million), funded by the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU).
The Cortex Typhon C-UAS utilises Kongsberg's Remote Weapon Station (RWS) and its Cortex Integrated Combat Solution as well as surveillance systems from Teledyne FLIR Defense. The collective solution can counter a wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) via kinetic or non-kinetic means.
The Norwegian government has donated Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) Dingo 2 all-protected carrier vehicles, RWSs, and weapons as part of the delivery.
Established by the UK, the IFU pools financial contributions from Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the UK as well as from Iceland and Lithuania to procure and quickly deliver vital military equipment to Ukraine.
