Mack Defense introduced its ATC-40T, a 40-ton capacity all-terrain crane based on the commercial Mack Granite chassis, at the annual Association of the United States Army conference in Washington, DC.
The ATC-40T is to be built with Manitowoc Crane, a supplier of truck-mounted hydraulic cranes, and is designed to meet US Army requirements for a “Type 1 medium crane with an all-terrain solution capable of up to 40-ton lifts in severe or hostile conditions”, Mack Defense said in a statement.

It is to have an optional armoured cab, with the solution designed by Tencate and manufactured by JWF Defense Systems, Gordon said.
Also based on the Granite is Mack Defense’s M917A3 heavy dump truck (HDT), the first five of which were officially handed over to the US Army in June.
