The award, announced on 30 March, covers 18 Lot 11 P-8A MMAs, comprising eight for the USN, four for the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), and six for the Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF). Work is expected to be completed by October 2023.
According to the DoD, the award also includes a segregatable effort consisting of unknown obsolescence for Lot 11, Class 1 change assessment and obsolescence monitoring, as well as non-recurring engineering for South Korea.
The USD1.5 billion award came 13 months after the DoD awarded Boeing USD428.9 million to cover long-lead material and activities in support of six USN aircraft, as well as the four for New Zealand and six for South Korea.
On the same day as the latest production award, the DoD awarded L3 Harris Technologies Inc. USD25.9 million for the production and delivery of 35 ship-sets of BRU-75A and BRU-76A bomb rack units. This award covers 13 for the USN, seven for the UK, five for Norway, four for New Zealand, and six for South Korea in support of P-8A Lots 9-11 aircraft deliveries. Work is expected to be completed by September 2024.
