Anduril announced that it has acquired the radar and command-and-control (C2) businesses of Numerica Corporation. The purchase will add advanced signal processing and tracking algorithms and software to Anduril's mission systems solutions as well as strengthen its air and missile defence offerings, according to a company statement on 9 January.
The terms of the deal, which has closed, are not being disclosed, an Anduril spokesperson told Janes on 9 January.
Numerica specialises in ballistic missile defence systems, air-defence sensors, and advanced battlespace awareness and C2 software, capabilities that will become part of Anduril's portfolio of mission and advanced C2 solutions, according to the statement.
Integrating Numerica's radar and battlespace systems into Anduril's Lattice platform, which connects sensors, effectors, and systems, will enable it to “deliver solutions designed to operate effective full-force combat operations”, the statement said.
Numerica's Spyglass and Spark short-range air-defence and vehicle-protection radars, in service with the US Department of Defense (DoD), will join Anduril's existing family of active and passive sensors, noted the statement. The company will continue to invest in the development of the radars and expects to manufacture Spyglass, Spark, and future radar systems at its planned Arsenal-1 hyperscale factory.
The Mimir C2-enabling software will also become part of Anduril's mission software portfolio. It provides advanced tracking, track correlation, and theatre-wide fusion capabilities, which with the Lattice artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platform can deliver improved situational awareness, decision making, and fire control in real time, according to the statement.
The acquisition also brings Numerica's advanced mathematical algorithm, scientific computing, and hardware engineering expertise to Anduril, which will strengthen its air and missile defence, and vehicle protection offerings, the statement said.
