Ares Shipyard and Meteksan Defence presented variants of their Ulaq unmanned surface vessel (USV) at the DIMDEX maritime exhibition in Doha, Qatar, held from 21 to 23 March.

Models of the Ulaq anti-surface warfare (ASuW) and port security vessel (PSV) variants were displayed for the first time at the exhibition by both companies, who have partnered for the Ulaq USV project.

The Ulaq anti-submarine warfare (ASW) variant, along with a 6×6 mobile coastal control station, were also displayed.

The Ulaq ASuW USV has an overall length of 24 m, a speed of 100 km/h, and a range of around 430 n miles. The vessel was seen fitted with a 12.7 mm remote-controlled gun on its front deck and a four-barrelled pedestal mounted rocket launcher aft. While Ares offers Aselsan's STAMP 12.7 mm for the front deck weapon, the four-barrelled rocket launcher can be equipped with anti-ship missiles. The vessel can also be equipped with electronic warfare capability.

The ASW USV was seen fitted with six barrelled anti-submarine rocket launchers aft, and a 12.7 mm gun on its front deck. Ares offers the Ulaq ASW in two configurations: a 13 m ASW heavyweight torpedo (HWT) version and an 11.8 m ASW lightweight torpedo (LWT) variant. The HWT version has a top speed of 65 km/h and a range of up to 430 n miles, while the LWT has a maximum speed of 45 km/h and a range of 270 n miles. Both the configurations can carry a sonar.

The Ulaq PSV on display was seen equipped with a 12.7 mm gun on its front deck.
