Airbus has delivered the first of a pair of A400M Atlas transport aircraft for the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) of the Republic of Kazakhstan made the announcement on 5 December, saying aircraft factory number MSN139 was received by Minister of Defense Colonel General Ruslan Zhaksylykov.

News of the delivery came about six months after the aircraft was first flown at the A400M Final Assembly Line in Seville, Spain.

Neither Airbus nor the Kazakh MoD has said when the second aircraft will be delivered.

The Kazakh Air Defense Forces (KADF) has opted to receive its A400Ms in a bespoke high-gloss ‘wet' version of the familiar low-visibility grey paint scheme. It featured the standard markings of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan that are drawn on the country's Soviet past.

Unlike all other operators, the KADF aircraft are not fitted with an aerial refuelling probe. Beyond the lack of the probe, Airbus previously declined to comment on the specifics of the Kazakh configuration for the aircraft.

Airbus' order book for the A400M comprises Belgium (seven), France (50), Germany (53), Indonesia (two, plus options for four), Kazakhstan (two), Luxembourg (one), Malaysia (four), Spain (27), Türkiye (10), and the United Kingdom (22).
