Česká zbrojovka (CZ) displayed its newest assault rifle, the CZ Bren 3, at the Eurosatory 2024 defence exhibition held from 17 to 21 June in Paris.

This is the third-generation of the Bren assault rifle family from the Czech small-arms manufacturer. It is already in use by the Czech Army and law enforcement in various countries, but this was the first time the weapon had been displayed in public.

Jan Zajic, CEO and chairman of the board of directors at CZ, said that the Bren 3 was the result of feedback from soldiers, police officers, and special forces personnel equipped with previous Bren series weapons.

He added that the focus for this weapon was on improving key features including ergonomics and shooting comfort.

Bren 3's multi-calibre modular design allows it to fire both 5.56×45 mm NATO and .300 AAC Blackout calibre rounds. The gas-operated rifle's 5.56×45 mm NATO version is offered with a 7”, 11”, 14.5”, or 16.5” barrel, while the .300 AAC Blackout calibre comes with a 7” or 9” barrel.

The Bren 3 also comes with the option of foldable or telescopic stocks, with the telescopic variant seen as adjustable for use in vehicles or by soldiers wearing ballistic protection. Its STANAG 4694 rail allows for mounting of an Aimpoint Comp M5 red dot sight with a 3× magnifier. The rifle can be fitted with CZ's 40 mm low-velocity grenade launcher.

The Bren 3 is expected to fulfil AC/225 D/14 NATO standards for reliable operation in conditions such as high or low temperatures, salt water, sand, mud, or dust.
