Belgium is to acquire Airbus Helicopters H145M battlefield support rotorcraft, with government approval for the procurement announced ahead of the ILA Berlin Air Show running from 5 to 9 June.

The Council of Ministers approved Minister of Defence Ludivine Dedonder's request for 15 H145Ms for the Belgian Land Component, and a further two for the police. For the army, the helicopters will be utilised for tactical troop transport and for aeromedical evacuation duties.

The procurement, which includes training and a five-year support agreement, will be conducted via the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). A requirement for mission trainers for the helicopters will be put out to tender.

The objective is for the helicopters to be delivered to the Ministry of Defence before the end of 2027.
