Following trials with a prototype multi-purpose armoured recovery crane (MPARC), developed by the Machinery Production Group (MPG) of Turkey, a total of 29 production units are to be delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command (TLFC) for what would be a step change in the TLFC’s recovery capability.
The MPARC is based on a Tatra 8×8 chassis that features an independent suspension system, powered steering on the front four wheels, central tyre inflation system, and run flat tyres.

The platform is expected to operate in the forward areas and has a forward control armoured cab with seats for four people. External cameras provide 360° situational awareness. On the cabin roof is a remote weapon station, an improvised explosive device jammer, a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) protection system, and fire detection/suppression system.
The powerpack consists of a Cummins diesel developing 600hp coupled to an Allison seven-speed transmission, which gives a maximum road speed of up to 80 km/h and a range of up to 600 km. MPG said the MPARC’s gross vehicle weight (GVW) is 40 tonnes and gross combination weight (GCW) 92 tonnes (the MPARC plus the vehicle being towed).
For its specialised recovery mission, the vehicle is fitted with a main winch with a maximum capacity of 40.79 tonnes and is provided with 80 m of cable. A more compact front-mounted winch has a capacity of 15 tonnes and 60 m of cable. Mounted at the very rear of the platform is the lift and tow system, which is rated at 13 tonnes.
