Oshkosh will soon make an announcement about its Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) being trialled in the Middle East region, the company told Jane’s during the IDEX show held in Abu Dhabi between 17–21 February.

“We have no imminent orders [for the JLTV] out of the Middle East but we have a lot of interest in the region and we would encourage you to watch our press releases for announcements of a trial or two of the JLTV in the Middle East,” said Mike Ivy, senior vice president for international programmes at Oshkosh.
The company displayed the JLTV at IDEX fitted with an R-400S Mk2 remotely operated weapon station armed with a 30 mm M230LF Bushmaster lightweight cannon: a configuration that the United Arab Emirates’ military confirmed has been ordered from the Australian company EOS.
Ivy said that militaries that want the JLTV can benefit from the lower unit costs resulting from the large-scale production for the US military, which has ordered about 11,000 vehicles, 4,000 of which have been delivered.
“Volume matters in manufacturing,” he said. “We would encourage any customer to take advantage of our current hot production line to get orders in while we are making it in volume because they will get the trucks cheaper. We can work additional orders into our manufacturing process in a very reasonable timeframe.”
Oshkosh’s M-ATV is already in service with both the UAE Armed Forces and the Royal Saudi Land Forces.
