Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) members Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden are discussing the joint procurement of CV90 Mk IV infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), national procurement and industry officials have told Janes.

BAE Systems Hägglunds managing director Tommy Gustafsson-Rask told Janes on 6 December that the discussions are at an early stage. He expects the joint procurement of “a couple of hundred” CV90 Mk IV IFVs.

He also raised the possibility of Lithuania joining the Nordic countries in the procurement. A Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence spokesperson told Janes on 23 October that the CV90 has been selected as an alternative for further negotiations, after which the country's final decision will be made on a tracked IFV.

The day before, a Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) spokesperson told Janes, “Within NORDEFCO, there is a continuous dialogue on possible materiel co-operation. In this context, initial discussions on the feasibility of joint procurement of a future IFV [have] been taking place. In addition to the fact that it concerns the CV90, we do not have any further information to share at this time.”
