US firm Navistar Defense signed a teaming agreement with Saudi Arabian firm ERAF on 8 March at the World Defense Show (WDS) in Riyadh.

The company is bidding the MaxxPro mine-resistant, ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle as part of a potential order for the Royal Saudi Land Forces (RSLF), Royal Saudi Naval Force's (RSNF) Naval Infantry, and the Presidency of State Security (PSS).

The requirement ranges from 500–900 vehicles across the RSLF and RSNF, with Navistar Defense working to do full production in Saudi Arabia through ERAF. An estimated 20–25 vehicles will be produced in the US, with production from knock-down kits being performed before the full transfer of technology for licensed production in the Kingdom.

A command-and-control version of the vehicle has been built in the country by the two parties. Maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of the vehicles will be performed by ERAF and other supporting firms in Saudi Arabia.

The signing of the agreement comes two years after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two companies, and three years after Navistar Defense established a presence in Saudi Arabia.
