A life-size model of Ukraine's Magura V5 unmanned surface vessel (USV) was displayed at the Eurosatory 2024 defence exhibition held in Paris from 17 to 21 June.
Developed by SpetsTechnoExport (STE), Magura is suited for a wide range of missions including long-range maritime reconnaissance, combat, patrol, search and rescue, and mine warfare.
The thin elongated, V-shaped hydrodynamic hull sits 0.5 m above the waterline, has a 320 kg load capacity, and comes equipped with an integrated electro-optical sensor. The vessel is capable of travelling distances of up to 450 n miles, enabled by a wireless communication mesh radio with an aerial repeater or integrated satellite communications such as Starlink.
Magura has been deployed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Black Sea, where it has successfully struck several Russian vessels, including the Tsesar Kunikov Ropucha I-class tank landing ship in February.
