Greece's General Directorate for Defense Investments and Armaments (GDDIA) signed a framework agreement on 14 December with Viking Norsafe Hellas on the procurement of 41 speedboats for Hellenic Army amphibious raider squadrons of Greece's Joint Special Operations Command, plus seven years of initial follow-on support (FOS).
The new boat, the Munin S-1200 Armored, is a customised variant for the Hellenic Army based on the Munin S-1200 design with a bulletproof armoured cockpit and watertight BR4NS bullet resistant windows.
Munin S-1200 Armored has an overall length of 12.2 m, a 3.5 m beam, a maximum draft of 0.9 m, and a height of 3.9 m. When fully loaded, it weighs over 8,500 kg with a 3,100 kg maximum load capacity. The craft will have a top speed of 50 kt at full load and a standard range of more than 250 n miles at 35 kt. The boat will be powered by a triple Mercury Verado 400 hp outboard installation. It is certified to operate in winds greater than Beaufort Force 8 and a significant wave height of over 4 m.
The boat can carry two people inside its armoured pilot house, plus 12 on the board deck behind the cabin, all on Shockwave shock mitigation seats. It will be armed with machine guns fitted on pedestals.
