ASIS unveiled an enhanced version of its 11.5 m military offshore interceptor rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) at the Naval Defence & Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) 2025 held in Abu Dhabi from 17 to 21 February.
Speaking to Janes at NAVDEX 2025, an ASIS spokesperson said the updated vessel, which was officially launched at the show, features several improvements over the original version, including the addition of a partially enclosed wheelhouse (with a fully enclosed cockpit and open at the sides and back). The wheelhouse has a dual console layout and is fitted with eight suspension seats.
In addition, the below-deck cavities of the hull have now been injected with closed-cell waterproof memory foam to add additional rigidity, stability, and floatability if a hull breach ever occurred, enabling the vessel to continue with its mission until it could be repaired. The company has also added a third fender line for further protection.
In service since 2023, the ASIS 11.5 m interceptor is designed for military, law enforcement, and search-and-rescue missions.
It is based on a deep V-shaped patented aluminium ‘foam shield' hull with an overall length of 11.24 m without engines, a beam of 3.80 m, and an operational load of 5,500 kg.
It is powered by three Mercury Verado 400 hp V10 outboard engines, with a fuel capacity of 1,200 litres, enabling a top speed of 56 kt.
