Frence's Texelis has supplied its Texelis Platform (TXP) series of 4×4s to at least two unidentified countries in the Middle East since TXP was launched in the international market in June 2018, as the company moves beyond its traditional focus on axles and suspensions.
These customers have fitted their own welded-steel armoured hulls to the chassis, according to Jean Vandel, managing director, Defense, at Texelis.
The TXP series was developed by the company for export using internal research and development funding and comprises a frame type ladder chassis and a suspension system, as well as the vehicle powerpack, drive line, steering, and electrical systems.
The new Texelis TXP 4×4 platforms are being marketed for armoured vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of between 14 and 18 tonnes. Shown is the TXP 14 with a front-mounted powerpack. (Texelis)
Texelis supplies the TXP as a running chassis to enable customers to fit their own protected mission module or in a completely knocked down (CKD) kit form. According to the company, the running chassis and suspension elements are classed as commercial items by the French government.
“This has expanded our footprint away from our more traditional role of just supplying the axles and suspension for wheeled platforms and we are happy to expand into local production where this is applicable or cost effective,” said Vandel.
