US-UK Team Tercio gets funding for see-through-walls tech

The US-UK Team Tercio has secured ongoing development funding for its Duelist situational awareness system for small units operating in urban environments, following its successful entry into the National Security Innovation Network’s Situational Awareness in Dense Urban Environments 2020 Online Challenge, the company announced in a 10 November press release.

Duelist is a software platform designed to provide real-time situational awareness for infantry and special operations forces in an urban environment by integrating multiple sensors into a meshed local network, which is in turn supported by artificial intelligence (AI) to combine the gathered inputs into actionable intelligence.

The programme creates a 3D map of the environment by integrating sensors such as the SafeScan through-wall radar created by the UK’s Iceni Labs, as well as inertial measurement unit (IMU) motion trackers, and by collating radio frequency data. The AI works to filter the gathered information and provide the users with a map showing friendly positions, possible threats, safe breaching points, and more, the company explained in an October 2020 white paper, viewed by Janes .
