The Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) signed a contract with Rheinmetall on 27 September for 16 Skyranger 30 air-defence systems, the signatories have announced. Rheimetall said in a press release on 30 September that the air-defence system would be mounted on a Piranha V 8×8 armoured vehicle.
The German company valued the contract in the low three-digit million euro range, adding that DALO also ordered ammunition in the low double-digit million euro range. DALO said on its website on 27 September that it expected the first four initial/prototype turrets to be delivered in late 2026, followed by three batches of four series-produced turrets each in 2027–28.
Lieutenant General Per Pughom Olsen, head of DALO, who signed the contract with Rheinmetall Air Defence CEO Oliver Dürr, said, “The signing of this contract is an important step toward establishing the [Danish heavy] brigade's air defence, which is an essential part of making the brigade fully operational. The selection of the Skyranger turret and its machine cannon was made in close co-operation with our colleagues at the Defence Command.” DALO added that this included experts from the Danish Artillery Regiment.
The organisation said Skyranger 30 would provide short-range air defence (SHORAD) for the brigade and be part of a complete air-defence system that would also include radar, operations centre, and communication systems, with Danish company Terma responsible for integrating all these elements into a unified system.
