Anavia, an Edge Group entity, exhibited a scale model of the naval version of its HT-100 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2025 held in Abu Dhabi from 17 to 21 February.

The HT-100 Naval is an advancement of the HT-100 unmanned helicopter, which is already in production and in service with both civil and military customers since 2021. The form factor is similar to the baseline variant.

Jon Andri Jörg, founder and co-CEO of Anavia told Janes that the launch contract for the HT-100 Naval was realised in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), also an Edge Group entity. Tests for operations from a moving platform are ongoing and on-vessel flight trials for a new deck landing system will be completed in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, Jörg added.

Ishan Sahgal, founder and co-CEO of Anavia, explained that both the HT-100 and its naval version have similar form factors, but the naval version has been equipped with avionics and other command-and-control systems to aid maritime operations. Another feature designed to reduce the HT-100's logistical footprint during shipborne operations is its foldable tail. With its tail folded, the UAV measures 1.6 m in length. Corrosion preventive treatment to the materials and electronic subsystems has also been carried out, Sahgal said. Anavia is progressing with testing of the naval version to try and sustain operations in higher sea states.
