Indonesian firm PT Sentra Surya Ekajayais (PT SSE) has unveiled a prototype of its new P2 Tiger armoured personnel carrier (APC) to meet requirements in the Indonesian Army and export markets. The vehicle features an armoured hull produced by PT SSE mounted on the 4Γ4 Celeris tactical vehicle produced by French company Texelis.
A press release by the two companies said the P2 Tiger APC prototype, which was formally unveiled on 23 January after being built at PT SSE's facility in Tangerang near Jakarta, has been designed and developed for troop transport but can be configured for several operations. The vehicle can carry a crew of two plus up to eight dismounts and their equipment.
Depending on its configuration, the P2 Tiger provides NATO STANAG 4569 protection from Level 1 to Level 4 and has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) ranging from 13 to 18 tonnes. The P2 Tiger APC version weighs 18 tonnes.
Kits
The P2 Tiger prototype was produced following Texelis's supply of a series of Celeris kits, which comprised components including axles, powerpack, transmission, and steering system. Up to 30 kits are optional depending on the procured vehicle's configuration.
The Celeris vehicle features Texelis T750 axles, a Cummins ISL9 Euro 3 diesel engine with an output of 375 hp, and an Allison 3200SP transmission with a two-speed-plus-neutral transfer case.
βA contract was signed in 2024, which determined the delivery to PT SSE of a first Celeris kit,β the press release said. βA team of Texelis experts assisted PT SSE with the industrial process, assembly, and first steps.β
